LA CHOUETTE DE CHAMPILLON X EERO AARNIO ORIGINALS
the Owl's Nest
There are moments that feel like a sheltered world of one's own.
One of them is physical: when Eero Aarnio designed the Ball Chair, he didn't just create a seat. He created a room within a room, an architectural sanctuary that offers a promise of peace even in the busiest of spaces. It is a symbol of timeless Finnish design, one that has always understood the value of silence.
The other is sensory: the moment champagne is poured into a glass. The elegant effervescence and refined taste of La Chouette De Champillon carry a similar promise: this moment is yours, separate from everything else. It is a symbol of quality and pleasure that has found its way into Finns' most important moments.
The question that sparked this project was simple: What would happen if these two worlds—design and the pleasure of taste—were combined?

The Owl's Nest was born. It is an experiential installation where Aarnio's design icon serves as the setting for an entirely new experience. The name came naturally: the nest-like shape of the Ball Chair offers a sheltered space, and the owl symbol of La Chouette gives it a soul.
“We wanted to see what happens when these two worlds are unleashed and give the audience something they have never experienced before.”
The idea was to translate the essence of champagne into sound. The esteemed sound artist DJ Slow (Vellu Maurola) was chosen for the task, and he immediately understood the vision. He did not compose music; instead, he created an immersive soundscape—"La Chouette – Time of Becoming"—which is like a journey into the story of champagne and the Finnish state of mind.
”La Chouette – Time of Becoming” is a moment outside of time, where the alchemy of maturation and becoming takes shape. It is a lingering passage that cannot be rushed, the instant just before silence turns into effervescence. It is a multi-sensory journey toward something profound and deeply personal: for one it may be black tie and a ballroom, for another woolen socks and a warm fireplace. Equally meaningful in every case, always a unique experience for all the senses. Maurola summarizes.
“It is a multi-sensory journey toward something profound and deeply personal: for one it may be black tie and a ballroom, for another woolen socks and a warm fireplace.”
The soundscape combines the delicate hiss of La Chouette's bubbles, the echo of French champagne cellars, the deep peace of the Finnish forest, and the distinct hoot of an owl. The result is a calming and meditative composition that shuts out the outside world and makes space for sensory perception.
Hop on and enjoy the ride.
Imagine settling into the embrace of the Ball Chair. In your hand, you have a glass of chilled La Chouette champagne. As the sounds of the outside world fade, the soundscape begins to play from within the chair. Suddenly, you notice how the sound and the taste begin a conversation. You hear in your ears what you taste in your mouth: the lightness of the bubbles, the depth of the flavor, and the elegant character of the drink.
It is a moment of complete immersion—a space where design, sound, taste, and scent combine to form something entirely new.
“The Owl’s Nest project is a perfect example of how timeless design can spark new innovations.”
The Bubble Lounge 17.-21.11.2025
For the premiere of the Owl's Nest, a space was created that is an experience in itself. For the duration of Slush week, Viinitie's office in the heart of Helsinki undergoes a transformation, becoming The Bubble Lounge—a living Eero Aarnio showroom and a relaxed La Chouette afterwork champagne bar.
The name "The Bubble Lounge" is a tribute to both partners: it refers to Aarnio's iconic Bubble Chair as well as the lively bubbles of champagne. The entire space is furnished with Aarnio's timeless classics, which are not just objects but invitations to sit, converse, and enjoy.
The Bubble Lounge is not just an exhibition space; it is a meeting place where you can network, unwind with a glass of champagne, and experience what the Owl's Nest feels like.
Welcome to share this unique moment with us.

La Chouette de Champillon has become Finland's best-selling champagne by breaking traditional perceptions of luxury. Created by Viinitie and named after the wise owl, the champagne represents a modern approach where authentic small-producer quality, uncompromising taste, and a fair price meet. Its elegant and fruity character has made quality champagne an approachable pleasure for Finns, proving that premium quality does not have to be an exclusive privilege.
